This lighthouse was considered one of the most important on the Atlantic coast due to the danger the Cape where it is located presents and to the surrounded shoals, some of which are quite far away from the coast.
Corrubedo Cape is flat and low over the sea lever. It belongs to the Barbanza Peninsula and it is the beginning of the "Ría de Muros" on the South.
