The Carlos Maside Museum was inaugurated in Castro-Sada in 1970. Galicia was considered to need an institution that gathered the work and documentation of the Galician art renovation movement, which was dispersed due to the events of the year 36. The museum would carry out this work of care, protection, exhibition, and study, thus fulfilling a necessary task in the evolution of the aesthetic ideas of contemporary Galician art. Its funds collect our most immediate artistic past, not as a static repository of information, but to contrast it with our present, without discriminatory criteria and always with the hope of a brighter future.
The museum is located in an architectural complex that houses the Cerámicas del Castro production plant, a building for research, design and exhibitions of ceramics and books as well as temporary exhibitions.
The Carlos Maside Museum takes up the most characteristic building of this industrial-cultural complex, designed by the prestigious architect Fernández-Albalat and made to contain the collection of pictorial art. The exhibition space is divided over three floors where works by Castelao, Francisco Lloréns, XesúsCorredoira, Francisco Asorey, Eiroa, Bonome, Cristino and Maruja Mallo, Fernandez Mazas, Colmeiro, Maside, Souto, Seoane or Díaz Pardo are shown. The collection is completed with other relevant figures such as Eugenio and Mario Granell, Urbano Lugrís, Julia Minguillón, Manuel Torres, Tino Grandío, Labra, Virxilio, Mercedes Ruibal, or more recent figures such as Raimundo Patiño, Alberto Datas, Leiro, Permuy, Correa Corredoira, Lamazares,…. and a representation of young artists. The last floor is dedicated to humorous drawing and comics. .

In 2020, one of the buildings of the SARGADELOS (Cervo) architectural complex, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, is recovered to turn it into a Museum of Ceramics. The emblematic building, after rescuing the original environments, aims to show the history of ceramics, the aesthetic evolution of porcelain production and the important role that Sargadelos played in Galician culture.
In this enclosure you can find various rooms with a wide collection of our artistic and cultural heritage. From the beginning, the room of the precursors shows pieces of ancient Sargadelos and traditional pottery from Galicia, until the last one that exhibits a selection of pieces of the current Sargadelos. You can also visit an original auditorium with capacity for two hundred people, the old library, Díaz Pardo's home and a room dedicated to the ceramic experiences carried out in Sargadelos since 1972.

The Sargadelos Foundation annually organizes Ceramic Design Workshops, as well as practical workshops for a small number of participants linked to the world of design (max. 10-12 students per workshop).

In addition to the SARGADELOS technical team, outstanding national and international designers participate in workshops.

The objectives of the workshops are:

• Introduction to the methodology of product design and development.

• Experimentation and learning through a personal design project related to the sector and the activity itself in each of the workshops.

• New contributions in the search for original supports, for a real demand in a growing sector with innovation and future needs.
