Description:
Like a wall protecting the entrance to the Ría de Pontevedra from the force of the Atlantic, elongated and narrow. Facing northwest, only the southwest side is sheltered and calm. There, you will find the beaches and the pier, located in Curro, the main population center.
Ons, along with several other islets, forms the Ons Archipelago, which is part of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park, together with the Cíes Islands and the archipelagos of Sálvora and Cortegada.
On April 13, 1865, the light of a 5th-order lighthouse was lit for the first time on Ons Island. It was located at the highest point and had a range of 17 miles.
