Unlike the majority of Sargadelos sets, which are inspired by shapes rescued from the vast Galician cultural heritage, the Itálica motif is an exception. This decoration is provided by a Roman mosaic, from the 2nd century AD. C. that belongs to the archaeological complex of Itálica, city of Bética (current Andalusia). This mosaic is part of a thermal area. It is dedicated to the god Neptune, represented in the center, surrounded by multiple sea creatures, most of them mythological. The central space is surrounded by a second strip where birds, crocodiles, hunters with spears and shields and plant elements are represented. This joint set is framed with the perimeter decoration from which the Itálica motif is extracted.
