It nests from the boreal to the mediterranean zone, in all types of forests, gardens, parks and orchards in rural and urban areas. In Spain, although they travel throughout the peninsula, they breed in Mallorca and Menorca; in the Canary Islands (in the western islands with three endemic subspecies) and in Ceuta y Melilla.
