Description:

The hedgehog is a small mammal covered with spikes, very common in Galician forests and meadows. They inhabit Europe, Asia and África. Here, in Galicia, it's very common to use the term "cacho" (ourizo cacho) applied to any animal or plant that wraps around itself, a very characteristic ability of the hedgehog. It's a fairly nocturnal animal that hunts and eats insects, but also snails or even frogs. They also feed on chestnuts or fruits found on the ground. They live in forests with abundant vegetation although they adapt quite well to urban enviroments.
