The Eagle Owl is the largest of European nocturnal birds and needs large areas of land to hunt, which it does at dusk or at night, rarely during the day, as it is persecuted by diurnal birds of prey and other birds that dislike it greatly. It nests on the ground, in rocks, cliffs or dry trees. Sometimes it takes advantage of the abandoned nest of other birds.
In Galicia it's a very rare bird, because the distribution of the population limits the necessary space to subsist, so that you can only find it in the mountainous and uninhabited lands of the southeastern limit of the country.
Height: 19 cm.
